This place is becoming one of my favorite XLB spots in the area. Highly recommend getting the XLB sampler if it's your first time, the flavors are super unique and like no other. All the dishes are familiar to din tai fung but with a little twist. Honestly, I'd much rather go here than wait in the din tai fung line. Ambiance is super nice and service is always great here. I'll definitely be a regular here!
Taste the Rainbow: Xiao Long Bao Style! What an incredible experience it was to dine at Paradise Dynasty recently! I am a big xiao long bao fan and I was eagerly anticipating the chance to try this renowned spot. Located at South Coast Plaza, Paradise Dynasty is famous for its Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao: a platter featuring eight uniquely flavored xiao long bao. Naturally, we ordered the Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao during our visit. Alongside it, we also tried the Radish Pastry, Wood Ear Mushroom in Peppercorn Vinaigrette, and the Stir-Fried Black Pepper Angus Beef with Basil. The Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao exceeded all expectations. Eating this vibrant selection was both a fun and flavorful journey! Each order comes with a guide on how to enjoy the eight flavors in the recommended sequence for the best tasting experience. You start with the Original, then move through Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab Meat with Roe, Garlic, BBQ Pulled Pork, Szechuan, and finish with the boldest flavor: Kimchi. Every xiao long bao was delicious, with its own distinct taste. My personal favorites were the first three flavors I tried: the Original, Black Truffle, and Cheese. For me, these stood out the most in terms of taste and balance. While I came for the xiao long bao, I discovered a new favorite: the Radish Pastry! These piping-hot pastry puffs were sheer perfection, with a flaky exterior and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth interior. I absolutely fell in love with this dish. I definitely would get this again! The Stir-Fried Black Pepper Angus Beef with Basil was another highlight. The beef was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It's a dish I would happily order again. Lastly, the Wood Ear Mushroom in Peppercorn Vinaigrette was a refreshing palate cleanser. As a mushroom fan, I found this dish both light and satisfying. I felt this was the perfect way to round out the meal. Overall, my first visit to Paradise Dynasty was a delight! Every dish was enjoyable, and the Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao truly lived up to the hype, offering a rainbow of flavors in one unforgettable meal. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!
Was originally going to Din Tai Fung, but given the egregious wait time of 2.5 hours, we decided to try out Paradise Dynasty. We were immediately seated upon entering which was awesome! The restaurant was very spacious and easy to navigate. Our waiter, Hendry, was extremely attentive and friendly the entire time. I have a habit of eating all the ginger and he was happy to bring more upon request. Food came out rather quickly. We ordered the Original XLB, Garlic XLB (my personal favorite), the chicken wontons, and the shrimp noodles. Everything was phenomenal with the exception of the shrimp noodles - definitely looked better in the picture than irl, we weren't too enthused. All other food was delicious and it was gone within minutes! I don't understand why this place doesn't get as much traction as Din Tai Fung. The service we received today by Hendry alone was SO AMAZING in comparison to the entitled waiters at Din Tai Fung. I hope to be back here soon, especially when the 40% off happy hour special is occurring :))
My wife and I have had dinner twice now and both meals were seriously outstanding! As a quick note, the restaurant is as busy as you might expect so either come with a larger party to secure a reservation (minimum head count is 8 I believe) or during off peak hours. The xiao long bao has been consistently phenomenal for its combination of robust flavor, tender and exceptionally juicy filling, and thin yet durable skin. The specialty basket that includes all 8 flavors is a must-order and while every single one is derricious, the standouts include the garlic, black truffle, and Szechuan for me. It's still crazy think how the cheese tastes like a cheeseburger in dumpling form while the BBQ pulled pork is like a better version of an American pulled pork sandwich. The rest of the menu is expansive and we've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to make our way through a good deal. Highlights include: Stir-fried pea shoot with minced garlic Steamed chicken served with minced ginger and scallion oil Noodle with prawn and Kurobuta pork wonton in chili oil (though any wonton variation will be tasty) Noodle with Kurobuta pork wonton in thick chicken soup Stir-fried noodle with shredded pork Poached vegetable and Kurobuta pork dumpling Panda chocolate lava bun (SO dark chocolatey and gooey!) While not the most friendly, service has been prompt and attentive across both meals. Easily our favorite XLB yet and beyond worth trying!
The service here was amazing! Our waiter was super accommodating and informative. Ambiance is a nice Asian semi upscale restaurant. - Rainbow XLB (4/5): good to try the variety, but the pork was the favorite. Soup was tasty, the dumplings were pretty thin which we like. - Bok choy (4.5/5): very tasty, cooked and seasoned well - Spicy wonton (4/5): these were delicious, love to mix it in the sauce. - Chicken fried rice (4/5): also tasty, small portion size though - Beef plate (4.5/5): Tender, cooked well. But a bit high in price for the portion. - Spicy Dan Dan noodles (4/5): great flavor, perfect spice - Chocolate lava bun (3.5/5): good but not amazing
I really loved my experience dining here. We went during a weekday evening and put our names down. We received a text that our table was ready within about 20 min. They usually give two texts. Arrive within 10 min from receiving text to ensure your position isn't given away. The food and service were amazing. Staff were very polite and helpful in answering questions. Restaurant is clean even with many people seated inside. We tried their hot &soup soup, wonton, fried rice, and of course, their Xiao long bao. Everything tasted amazing and I will definitely be back.
Jordan was a very kind and attentive server he recommended the guava mama which was very good and made sure to always check up on us in a timely manner the ambiance is also very nice I lose the decorations of the bar and the chandeliers!
Came In for my first time dining at paradise to try the difference between din tai and paradise the food at paradise was really good as it had a lot of variety compared to din tai. Service wise my server Jordan was very knowledgeable about the food and alcohol my favorite foods were pork chop fried rice and prawn pork wontons with chili oil for alcohol Jordan recommended the yuzu gimlet which was very good thank u Jordan for the food and alcohol recommendations will be back for sure!
My friend, Christy, had suggested to dine at Paradise Dynasty as an alternative from Din Tai Fung. Frankly, the dine in experience at Paradise Dynasty met all the standards I could expect. Paradise Dynasty had an aesthetic ambiance fitting for south coast plaza and we were seated (table for 2) the moment we got there Thursday evening. We enjoyed the garlic snow pea shoots alongside a flavor variety of all the Xiao Long Bao assortment (8 pieces). We both enjoyed the garlic flavored Xiao Long Bao in particular, so we ordered an additional 10 pieces! To wrap it up, we had 6 pieces of their custard Xiao Long Bao for dessert! The establishment also offers take-out and despite the amount of customers, sound levels aren't overwhelming; therefore you can enjoy conversations with whomever you attend with. However, bathroom access is outside of the facility on a lower level. Also, huge thank you to our server, Aiman! Despite the amount of customers for a Thursday evening, Aiman still provided us immediate, quality service. Despite a busy shift, he also presented us with positive enthusiasm beyond customer service! Therefore, my friend and I will be coming back to Paradise Dynasty every time we visit south coast plaza!
